| Congratulations on being accepted to the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering & Computer Science! Now here’s a chance to get a jump on your studies. |
All participants in the Jonsson School Summer Program will take six to seven hours of classes: CS 1337: Computer Science I or CS 1136/1336: Programming Fundamentals These are special sections exclusively for this group and will not appear in the regular schedule. The Jonsson School Experience will introduce you to various fields of study in engineering and computer science, including the historical development of each field, the current state of the art, challenges and prospects for the future. You'll also learn important details about the Jonsson School’s curriculum. Demonstrations and assignments will be included, and team projects will feature activities incorporating Lego Mindstorms. A variety of field trips and social activities are planned for each week, sponsored by student chapters of the Association for Computing Machinery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, the Texas Society of Professional Engineers, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the International Honor Society of Electrical Engineers and Sigma Xi. |
Orientation and Registration: Move-in and a family orientation session will take place on Sunday, June 8, followed by a special registration session on Monday, June 9. Classes will run from June 9 to August 1. Support: The program will award $1,500 scholarships to students who live in UTD campus housing for the summer and $1,000 scholarships to those who commute. In-state tuition will apply to all. After the application of scholarship funding to your tuition, the total cost to attend this eight-week session will be approximately $2,300 for students who live on campus and $1,500 for those who commute. Plus work/study opportunities mean you could earn an additional $500 during the session for a few hours of work a week. Applications: Selections will continue until 40 students have been selected. Deposit: To reserve your space in the summer program, a non-refundable deposit of $150 is required within a week of notification that you have been selected to participate in the program. Please make check payable to “The University of Texas at Dallas” and send to the address in the application. The $150 will be applied toward your tuition.
