ECS Honors Program Homepage

The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science offers upper-division honors for outstanding students in Jonsson School programs. The ECS Honors Program offers special sections of designated classes and activities designed to enhance the educational experience of exceptional students.

Benefits of the Honors Program

The ECS Honors Program provides an opportunity for accomplished undergraduates to develop and expand their knowledge in the areas most critical to success in their field.

Honors students:

  • Enjoy smaller class sizes with the best professors the Jonsson School has to offer.
  • Gain 24-hour access to the private Honors Lab.
  • Receive special recognition on his or her transcript and diploma and at graduation.
  • Represent UT Dallas' best and brightest students to employers and graduate schools.

Difficulty of the Honors Program

The ECS Honors Program aims to engage and challenge talented students without simply assigning them more work. Course materials are directed toward applying students' knowledge and developing critical problem solving skills. Students in honors sections are more likely to explore cutting-edge topics or engage in dialogue with his or her professor.

Note to Fast Track students

Graduate classes count as honors sections for the purposes of departmental honors. Any students considering the Fast Track program are highly encouraged to apply for the ECS Honors Program.
