In both research and education, engineering and computer science now address many challenges in multi-disciplinary academics. An open, modern facility can shatter boundaries to developing knowledge and new solutions. The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering & Computer Science complex is a research and education center whose state-of-the-art classrooms, labs and centers encourage cross-disciplinary work, whose facilities and layout encourage industry conferences and educational lectures. With comprehensive computing technologies that address the instructional, research, administrative and outreach needs of the School, talented students and staff can relish the aggressive pursuit of ideas.
In addition, UTD’s new 192,000-square-foot Natural Science & Engineering Research Laboratory houses world-class labs and support facilities for research in electrical engineering, materials science, behavioral and brain sciences, chemistry, biology, and physics. Designed to enhance collaborative, interdisciplinary research, the $185 million building opened in December 2006.
